AMCIS 2023 Doctoral Consortium – Early Stage Students

Navigating your Ph.D. Journey

When: Wednesday & Thursday, August 9-10, 2023

Where: The Westin Playa La Bonita Hotel, Panama City, Panama

Sherae Daniel, University of Cincinnati,

Likoebe Maruping, Georgia State University,

The Doctoral Consortium (Early Stage) is to help those students who have started their Ph.D. programs and have not yet completed their comprehensive examination. The consortium has three primary objectives:

  1. Provide students opportunities to network with peers and faculty
  2. Help students to strategize about their research, teaching, and career plans
  3. Prepare students for the job market

The program includes faculty panels on managing the dissertation and academic success, teaching responsibilities and competencies, and career planning. In breakout sessions after each panel, small groups of students will discuss the panel topic with their faculty mentors and fellow students. The intent is for students to apply the panel topic to their personal and professional goals, with input from faculty mentors and peers.
